Wide receivers have good first practice

DeAnthony Arnett makes a couple good catches in practice, according to head coach Mark Dantonio.

The Spartans wide receivers were the subject of much scrutiny last year, struggling with drops and inconsistency.

In the first practice, head coach Mark Dantonio said the wide receivers had a good showing.

"I thought (they were) good," Dantonio said. "I thought they made a couple difficult catches. (DeAnthony) Arnett makes a couple. Bennie Fowler made a great catch in the end zone off of (Connor) Cook's throw. So, I thought they were very good."

When asked specifically about Arnett, Dantonio said time will tell how things go for the junior.

"Tough to say, we've got to let that play out," Dantonio said. "He caught the ball well today, but it's hard to assess people after one day in shorts. But I think he had two or three catches in two minute, looked good."
