Dantonio mum on quarterback situation

Andrew Maxwell and Connor Cook split time against Western Michigan on Friday -- and are listed as co-starters on the depth chart -- but head coach won't say who will start against South Florida.

A week ago, Michigan State head coach Mark Dantonio announced at his Tuesday press conference that senior Andrew Maxwell would be the starting quarterback against Western Michigan.

On Tuesday, Dantonio would not offer anything up about who will be under center when the Spartans play South Florida on Saturday

"Right now, I think the main focus is what we do internally with our quarterback situation," he said. "We are going to look at things as the week progresses and make some decisions near the end of the week. I'm not going to talk about who is starting right now."

Maxwell and sophomore Connor Cook are listed as co-starters on the depth chart released Tuesday.

Maxwell was 11 of 21 passing for 74 yards against Western Michigan. Cook was 6 of 16 for 42 yards and had four rushing attempts for 35 yards.

Neither redshirt freshman Tyler O'Connor or freshman Damion Terry saw time Friday.
