Lourawls Nairn commits to Michigan State

Tom Izzo picks up first commitment for 2014 in the speedy Kansas point guard.

Michigan State picked up its first 2014 basketball commitment Wednesday.

Point guard Lourawls Nairn (Sunrise Christian Academy, Kansas) chose the Spartans in a ceremony at his school over offers from Indiana, Oklahoma and Minnesota.

It looked like the battle came down the MSU and IU of late, with MSU ultimately winning out for the three-star point guard's services.

The 5-foot-10, 175-pound recruit visited East Lansing in mid-September, when the Spartans re-entered his recruitment after missing on other point guard recruits.

Nairn's coach, Kyle Linsted, told Scout.com's Brian Snow this about Nairn and MSU: "I think Tum fits their style well, and I think he fits their personality well, and I think that is a level he can play at. Coach (Tom) Izzo is good fit for Tum personality wise with his toughness and moxie. I think Tum could play well there."
