McKee Gives Spartans High Marks

Junior linebacker Anthony McKee came away from Saturday's game day visit to Michigan State impressed giving the Spartans high marks. Spartan Digest gets the latest from one of Ohio's top junior prospects.

Prospects in attendance for Michigan State's dominating win over Michigan continue to express their excitement about the Spartans football program.

Columbus (Ohio) Walnut Ridge junior linebacker Anthony McKee may have had a long day Saturday, but from the sound of things it was well worth it.

"It was a long day at Michigan State," said McKee. "After the game my sister has some friends up there so we didn't leave until late and got back home around three in the morning.

During his visit McKee didn't have to look far to see a familiar face.

"I sat next to Robert (Bowers) during the game," he said. "Michigan State got after it and I could see myself playing there. I like the community and the school in general. Some of it is that Robert has been giving me a lot of information and telling me how they are a family there. I like it up there and this game made me want to make it back up there soon to see more of campus."

On the field, McKee saw what his main recruiting coach has been telling him since the Spartans made contact.

"I was very impressed with their defense and how they shut down Michigan was crazy and unbelievable," said McKee. "The way they kept them down the whole game and stayed on top of them was great.

"Coach (Mike) Tressel has been telling me they have the number one defense in the Big Ten, but I didn't think they would shut down Michigan like that."

Following the game McKee got a chance to catch up with coach Tressel about his visit and where he stands for a possible offer.

"I talked with most of the coaches after the game and went into the locker room," he said. "Coach Tressel said he wants to offer me and that they love me there. He said they showed head coach Mark Dantonio my film and he loved it. So I don't know what the wait is to get an offer as they've not told me I have an offer yet."

Despite not holding an offer from the Spartans yet, McKee hopes to return soon and gave his visit an extremely high grade as compared to other visits he's taken so far.

"If I can't get back up this season, I want to get back for a Junior Day or in the spring," said McKee. "I would give my visit a great of an eight or nine out of ten."
