With Michigan State on a bye week, coach Mark Dantonio has been hitting the recruiting trail.
One of his first stops this week was to Jackson Lumen Christi, home of 2015 running back/linebacker Khari Willis.
"He came down to see me just to introduce himself," Willis said. "He told me that they thought I'm a good player and I could play multiple positions in his opinion and I agree with him, I think I can."
It being his first time meeting the Spartans' head coach, Willis said he thought Dantonio was a nice guy.
"He just wanted to build a relationship with me and get to know me a little better for me to get to know him and the program more," he said. "I'll be going up there (Thursday) afternoon to see a practice."
It will be Willis' second visit to East Lansing this week, as he took in the Spartans' win against Michigan last week.
"I liked their approach to young men instead of just football players the most," he said. "Their approach to building character instead of just building athletes. I thought that was pretty cool."
Next on tap for Willis is a visit to Michigan, which recently began showing interest.
"I called Coach Singletary," Willis said. "He just told me that if I was available Saturday I should come up and to keep in touch. They want to build a relationship, too, so I thought that was pretty cool.
"It felt pretty good. I think they got a really good program over there, too. It felt pretty cool that they wanted to talk to me."
Willis will visit Michigan for its game against Nebraska this Saturday.
