Payne misses practice with plantar fasciitis

Senior forward says he will start Friday and be back in practice Thursday

Michigan State forward Adreian Payne didn't participate in practice Wednesday taking a day off to rest a case of plantar fasciitis.

"AP was out because of a little thing on his heel," coach Tom Izzo said. "He's fine. They just wanted to get rid of it."

Payne said he would be back full-go in practice Thursday. He also said he will start against Virginia Tech on Friday in Brooklyn in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic.

"It's just a planned off day really," he said. "I never had it before I guess the only thing you can do for it is rest and try to get it better."

Payne said it was the first time had missed a day of practice in college.

The senior is averaging 17.5 points per game and 7.8 rebounds through the first four games of the season for the No. 1-ranked Spartans.
