Izzo updates injuries

Coach expects Appling to practice a little Monday, but not Harris, Costello and Payne.

The injury problems have continued to add up for Michigan State in the past couple weeks and the Spartans will be missing a few players in practice this week.

Coach Tom Izzo said the Spartans will be missing Gary Harris, Adreian Payne and Matt Costello in practice, but he expects Keith Appling to participate.

Costello has been battling an illness for a couple weeks and Izzo said tests for mono came back positive, but he will go through more Monday.

Harris "tweaked" his injured ankle against UNC last week, according to Izzo, and will miss a little bit of time.

Payne has been dealing with plantar fasciitis.

Appling hurt his hip pointer when he took a hard fall against North Carolina on Wednesday. Izzo said he didn't realize how hard of a fall Appling took until he saw the film, at which point he texted Appling, "Sorry."

An MSU trainer said Appling played the second half at 60 percent.

Izzo said he expects Appling to play Saturday against Oakland, but doesn't know about the other three.
