Michigan State the destination for Dantonio

Spartans' head coach has no plans to leave East Lansing despite some places mentioning his name as a candidate for Texas' vacancy.

It's easy to see why Mark Dantonio makes an attractive head coach these days.

The seventh-year Michigan State head coach just won his second Big Ten coach of the year award and has been nominated for numerous coach of the year awards.

Winning 12 games – and 41 in the past four years – will have the effect.

Some places have tossed Dantonio's name into the conversation for the vacancy at Texas, but the Spartans' head coach has no plans to move on and left no doubt about that Tuesday.

"I see Michigan State as the destination, not a stop," he said. "That's how I see it. Flattering, but that's how I see it."

Dantonio has won two conference coach of the year awards in the past four years, while leading Michigan State to a Big Ten championship, two Legends Division titles and a shared Big Ten title.

He has a 63-29 record in seven season in East Lansing.
