Elijah Taylor – Cincinnati (Ohio) Moeller – The defensive tackle is a high priority and already holds an offer from the Spartans. He fits what the Spartans do defensively and his best football is ahead of him as he played the majority of his junior season with a leg injury.
Justin Hilliard – Cincinnati (Ohio) St. Xavier – The linebacker has too many offers to list but is a main target of the Spartans as they hope current Spartans from the Queen City can help show the linebacker what he can do in their attack defense.
L.J. Scott – Hubbard (Ohio) – The running back/linebacker already holds an offer from the Spartans and should see his recruitment heat up in late January and early February.
Names to Keep an Eye On
Jordan Thompson – Cincinnati (Ohio) La Salle – Much like Elijah Taylor, Thompson plays in one of the top prep football leagues and is well tested against high level of competition. Thompson made the move from the edge to inside this past season and showed the ability to bulk up and make plays inside. Could still be an edge player at the next level with a great first step.
London Cloud – Bedford (Ohio) – If you are looking for the next Denicos Allen then look at Cloud who at 5-foot-11, 205-pounds may not get the big time attention of other linebackers but has a high skill level. The Spartans like Cloud and will look to learn more about him in the coming months.
David Long – Cincinnati (Ohio) Winton Woods – Another linebacker the Spartans are looking at has opened some eyes with a much improved junior season. Will be asked to camp with the Spartans and could see his stock rise.
Markus Bailey – Hilliard (Ohio) Davidson – Hardnosed player who fits the Spartans defensive profile with his ability to run and hit. Another player who will be asked to camp but has good enough film to earn an early offer.
George Asafo-Adjei – West Chester (Ohio) Lakota West – Athletic offensive lineman who is raw and shows great upside. Stands 6-foot-4, 290-pounds with a wide body much like current Spartan offensive lineman Donavon Clark. Already holds an offer from Kentucky but is going to see his stock blowup in the coming weeks.
Joshua Perry – Clayton (Ohio) Northmont – Perry is a player who continues to develop as his body grows. Has always shown solid technique but some questioned if he would be tall enough to get Big Ten interest. This summer could see Perry become one of Ohio's most wanted as he's a solid in pass-pro and shows the ability to run block.
Jacob Halter – Cincinnati (Ohio) Hills Christian Academy – Halter has great upside but is still raw as a player. Great physical size but must show he's capable of getting stronger and can handle Big Ten caliber talent. Camp will be extremely important as the Spartans like what they see on film but want to see him up close.
Noah Listermann – Cincinnati (Ohio) Winton Woods – When you stand 6-foot-7, 270-pounds people take notice. Michigan State has taken notice of Listermann and will be looking extremely hard here as Listermann has only played a couple of years of football. But the skill level is there and getting in early on the Ohio native will be important.
