Top Ten MSU Football Stories 2013 No.8

The calendar quickly approaches a new year with Michigan State getting ready to battle Stanford in the Rose Bowl. We take this time to look back on the past year at ten of the top stories surrounding the Spartans football program. We'll continue with number eight and work our way to the top story of the year.

Dennard's Big Year One to Remember

Senior cornerback Darqueze Dennard will finish his Michigan State career as one of the most decorated Spartans in recent history.

Leading the Spartans defense with passes defended (14), pass break-ups (10) and interceptions (4), Dennard has earned All-American honors from the American Football Coaches Association, Football Writers Association of American, Walter Camp Football Foundation, Associated Press, CBSSports.com, USA Today, SI.com, Sporting News and Athlon Sports to go with winning the 2013 Jim Thorpe Award and the Jack Tatum Award.

Add in being named the top defensive back in the Big Ten (Tatum-Woodson Big Ten Defensive Back of the Year) and earning first-team All-Big Ten honors and the native of Dry Branch, Georgia leaves a lasting impression on the Spartans football program.
