Top Ten MSU Football Stories 2013 No.6

The calendar quickly approaches a new year with Michigan State getting ready to battle Stanford in the Rose Bowl. We take this time to look back on the past year at ten of the top stories surrounding the Spartans football program. We'll continue with number six and work our way to the top story of the year.

Hiring of Curtis Blackwell

In some years this would be a higher ranked story, however, this is not a normal year in Michigan State football.

Each year in June, Michigan State coaches take part in the Sound Mind, Sound Body camps put on by Curtis Blackwell and the Lifting As We Climb Foundation he co-founded in 2004. During these camps, Blackwell showed he was well connected with the top prep players in the state of Michigan and carried some weight within the prep coaching circles as well.

The hire was just another example of Michigan State taking the steps needed to push the football program forward and compete on a national scale. While some dividends have already been seen, look for the biggest impact to come this summer when the Spartans host their own summer camps.
