A year after not having any early enrollees, Michigan State brought in a pair of recruits early in the 2014 cycle.
Tight end Matt Sokol (Rochester Adams) and linebacker Chris Frey (Upper Arlington, Ohio) are on campus in East Lansing and set to take part in winter conditioning and spring ball.
"Those two guys are exciting guys to have here," coach Mark Dantonio said.
Here is what Dantonio had to say about each recruit:
On Sokol: "Quarterback. Tight end. He will be a tight end for us. Big guy, great ball skills. Runs very, very well. I think he'll be a mismatch guy for us. Been very impressed with his work ethic in camp and things of that nature."
On Frey: "From Upper Arlington down in Columbus and he's another guy that I think is a Chris Spielman-type throwback. He plays extremely hard. Everywhere he goes, he's making his presence felt and I think he's going to do that this spring."
