Trice back and ready to put in more minutes

Junior guard practicing after missing more than a week with illness.

Michigan State has been pushing Keith Appling and Gary Harris' minutes to the limit without Travis Trice in the lineup.

Fortunately for the Spartans, Trice's absence is over and he is back in the rotation.

"I feel a lot better," Trice said following Monday's practice. "It feels good to be back out here."

Trice said he got bloodwork done, but it came back negative for any viruses.

"To be honest with you, I think I had the flu and by the time the tested me I had started to get over it," he said.

The junior guard was out of practice and games following MSU's 73-56 win at Indiana, but returned to play 19 minutes in the overtime win against Minnesota on Saturday.

It wasn't an easy go for Trice, who said he was exhausted but had to push himself.

"Early on, I asked out. I knew I just had to suck it up for our team. Watching that Ohio State game was rough and knowing I couldn't help especially when they were pressing and we were turning the ball over, I just had to suck it up and try to help the team."

Trice is averaging 7.4 points per game in 14 games with two starts.
