Spartans, Harris squeak by Hoosiers

Michigan State needs big performance from sophomore guard to defeat Indiana.

It seems nothing can come easily for Michigan State in Big Ten play at Breslin Center.

After back-to-back overtime wins, the Spartans beat Indiana 71-66 to stay unbeaten in Big Ten play and move to 18-1.

Gary Harris again was the thorn in Indiana's side, having 24 points after posting 26 in the team's first meeting in Bloomington.

The sophomore guard keyed a 20-6 Michigan State run in the middle of the second half to pull even, ahead and ultimately away.

Harris had 20 second-half points, hitting four 3-pointers.

Branden Dawson had 13 points and nine rebounds. Travis Trice tallied 10 points.

Freshman Noah Vonleh had a double-double for Indiana with 13 points and 13 rebounds.

The Spartans will square off with Michigan in East Lansing on Saturday.
