Long High on Spartans

With a family member just days away from becoming a Spartan, David Long talks about his interest in Michigan State.

With three scholarship offers already on the board, Cincinnati (Ohio) Winton Woods outside linebacker David Long has long been interested in Michigan State.

"Michigan State has been recruiting me since my sophomore year," said Long. "I like their defense and how they play aggressive; their campus is also real nice.

"Coach (Harlon) Barnett is a really cool guy and he's been talking with me since I was a sophomore. I'm hoping to go up there for a Junior Day soon and they are a school that I would look at camping at."

One thing that could pull long towards the Spartans is his cousin, future Spartan defensive back Vayante Copeland. This past season the cousins squared off against each other with Copeland putting on a show.

"I knew what we were getting ourselves into before we played them," he said. "I know what kind of player he is and we tried to stop him but he's a great player. We had some friendly talking on the field, but it was nice to compete against him."
