Thompson Honored by Spartans Offer

After a slow start, Jordan Thompson has seen his recruitment heat up in the past week with several scholarship offers. Michigan State is the newest program to jump onboard with an offer for the talented defensive lineman.

Having added offers from a couple of Big Ten programs early in the week, Cincinnati (Ohio) La Salle junior defensive tackle Jordan Thompson got an offer that surprised him.

"Michigan State offered me today," said Thompson. "I've been talking with Coach (Harlon) Barnett since I was a freshman. Today, defensive line coach Rob Burton came to school and broke the news to me.

"I'm just honored to be given this opportunity and it's very exciting."

What does Thompson know about the Spartans?

"I've never been up to Michigan State," he said. "But I know they run a 4-3 defense and like to rotate their defensive linemen out a lot. I've got a couple of older friends like Donavon Clark up there right now who is getting some playing time and I know it is a really good program."

One thing that has caught Thompson's attention was the strong finish the Spartans enjoyed this past season.

"I saw what they did against Ohio State and also how they played in the Rose Bowl," explained Thompson. "I also saw them when they played Northwestern and a couple of other games. I thought they had very good players and are very discipline on defense. They kind of remind me of our defense and how our coaches really push for technique and how you need to do it a certain way all the time."

Look for the Spartans to be a team Thompson will look to visit after he finishes up the basketball season.
