Signing Day Capsule: David Beedle

The in-state defensive tackle from Clarkston brings depth to the defensive line after winning a state title as a senior on a talented Wolves team.

David Beedle – Clarkston (Mich.) defensive tackle

Height, weight: 6-foot-5, 250 pounds

Commitment date: June 21, 2013

The Skinny

Beedle anchored the Clarkston defense at both defensive end and defensive tackle as the Wolves won the Division 1 state title. He also worked on the offensive line and could wind up at guard – a solid Michigan State recruit that brings versatility and strength to shore up multiple positions.

He plays with a tenacity and showed great quickness and strength in camps and in games alike. As a defensive tackle, Beedle has a jump off the line that caused opponents to struggle to contain him and uses his arms well in a variety of moves – impressive for a high school senior.

It took strong performances at Sound Mind Sound Body and Michigan State's one-day camp to earn his offer, but once Beedle did, he jumped on it and committed shortly thereafter. He was part of a big week in mid-late June which featured four commitments as the 2014 class gained steam and started to take more shape.

Beedle likely will redshirt, but figures to factor into what could be a deep rotation at defensive tackle in the near future as the Spartans routinely play four D-tackles in their rotation.
