Nick Padla – Berrien Springs (Mich.) offensive tackle

Height, weight: 6-foot-6, 265 pounds

Commitment date: September 7, 2013

Why Michigan State:"That was the one I wanted really bad. This was the place I really wanted to go. I grew up watching them and it's been ever since I was a little kid, so it's a dream come true."

The Skinny

Perhaps no player in the Michigan State 2014 class embodies the recruiting process than Padla. The night he got offered by the Spartans, I was watching his game, as was MSU coach Mark Staten. Talking with Padla after the game, I asked him what else he felt like he could do to get offered and he couldn't come up with anything. He camped, went to MSU camps, visited East Lansing and built relationships – and it all paid off.

It might have taken a while, but now he makes up part of a nice offensive line haul for the Spartans to provide future depth.

Padla, like fellow offensive tackle commit Chase Gianacakos, brings a project player with nice upside for the Spartans. He won't play early, but he will get the chance to grow and develop in the MSU program.

He was named to the Michigan Division 5/6 all-state team.
