Beyond being the leader of the United States, President Barack Obama also is known for his avid basketball fandom.
Obama annually selects a bracket on ESPN.com as part of the NCAA Tournament, coined Baracketology.
So when Obama was in East Lansing on Friday to sign The Farm Bill, it was only natural that Tom Izzo and Mark Dantonio had the chance to meet the president.
Izzo said he was amazed by the president's knowledge of his team, even down to Adreian Payne's injury.
"I'm sure he got briefed a little bit," Izzo said, "but as I heard last week when we played Iowa, he was trying to watch the game instead of watching some things people wanted him to watch."
Obama also took the opportunity to get some inside information on Michigan State before he ultimately fills out his bracket in March. He also told Izzo that if the Spartans are healthy, the will move up in his bracket.
Izzo said that was fair, but also ended it with a message.
"I just ended it with, ‘I'd like to come visit you at your house,'" he said. "That's what I'd like to do."
