Conner Ready to Visit Spartans

One of the top performers during Monday's Best of the Midwest Combine was Michigan State target Nick Conner. Spartan Digest spoke with Conner about his interest in the Spartans.

With the success seen from the several linebackers who have played under Mike Tressel at Michigan State it is no surprise players have high interest in the Spartans. One of those is Dublin (Ohio) Scioto linebacker Nick Conner.

"I just like their defense," said Conner. "I like how they are coached and everything, especially their linebackers. I've been talking with Coach Tressel and it's nice to have a chance to build a relationship with your possible position coach.

"I'm going up on March 1-st for their Junior Day as I've been around Michigan State but never really on campus."

Like others Conner saw his attention grow as he watched the Spartans during the later part of the 2013 season.

"Winning the Rose Bowl and everything kind of sparked my interest," he said. "Especially how they play defense."

With nine scholarship offers already in hand, Conner didn't need to take part in Monday's Best of the Midwest Combine, however, he knows competition brings out the best in any top level athlete.

"I came looking to get my times down so coaches know I can compete with anybody," explained Conner. "There are some of the best kids here and this will be a solid test for me."
