Harris named first-team All-Big Ten

Sophomore guard the lone preseason All-Big Ten member to make the postseason list. Adreian Payne checked in on the second team despite missing six conference games.

Of the five preseason All-Big Ten picks, just one was on the postseason first team.

Michigan State's Gary Harris, the preseason player of the year, was named to both the coaches and the media's first team. Harris also was named to the All-Defensive team.

The sophomore guard from Fishers, Ind., averaged 17.5 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. He was named the Big Ten's freshman of the year last season and also was a second-team selection.

Spartans' forward Adreian Payne was named to the second-team by both coaches and media despite missing six conference games.

He averaged 16.1 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, while shooting 42.3 percent from 3-point range.

Keith Appling and Denzel Valentine were honorable mention honorees by the media vote and Valtentine was named the Spartans' sportsmanship award recipient.

Michigan's Nik Stauskas was named the player of the year and was a unanimous first-team selection. Stauskas and Harris were joined on the first team by Iowa's Devyn Marble, Nebraska's Terran Petteway and Wisconsin's Frank Kaminsky.
