The junior received an offer from Michigan State last week on March 14.
"The coach (Brad Salem) hit me up on Facebook and told me to call him and I called him," Francois said. "We had been talking on Facebook for a long time so I finally called him and he offered me.
"They were one of the first schools to start talking to me last spring. They were talking to me then they fell off but have picked up a little bit and are talking to me again and finally offered me. It's an honor."
The 6-foot-2, 185-pound quarterback said he knows Michigan State has won a lot of games recently.
"Michigan State is a powerhouse," he said. "Obviously, they had a good season last year. (The offer) means a lot. It means they were looking at me for a while. Coach Salem is a great coach and does great things with the quarterbacks."
"Penn State was kind of a surprise," he said. "They hadn't really looked at me too much but now they came out of nowhere. That was a surprise. Virginia Tech, I had been talking to them on Facebook for a while and they finally offered me."
He has visits coming up to Auburn, Ohio State and Tennessee and said one to Michigan State is possible.
"There is a shot over summer if my interest level becomes higher in Michigan State," he said. "I just got the offer so I'm not really too sure about them right now. It's all based on the relationship I build with Coach Salem. I could make it to Michigan State. That wouldn't be a problem.'
Francois will be headed to the Elite 11 finals and The Opening in Oregon in July and also will be transferring to IMG Academy in the coming weeks.
