Howe Ready to see Spartans

Ohio defensive tackle Kraig Howe is looking forward to visiting Michigan State later this week. Spartan Digest caught up with Howe about his upcoming visit.

As one of Ohio's top defensive tackle prospects in the 2015 recruiting class, Kraig Howe has already picked up a solid group of scholarship offers. One program yet to offer is Michigan State, a program Howe will be visiting later this week.

"I'm going up to Michigan State on Friday," said Howe. "I talked with Coach (Harlon) Barnett just last week and he said they watched my film and did a little background check on me. He said they like what kind of character I am and how I play football as well.

"He was saying what he liked about my film. So I'm excited to get up there to meet him and all the other coaches on the staff. I'm also excited because I have family up in Michigan and they are Michigan State fans as well. So that is going to be well worth the trip to go up there and visit them."

What would an offer from the Spartans mean to Howe?

"Michigan State has been one of the schools I've always like watching," he said. "Especially this past year, they had such a great year winning the Big Ten and the Rose Bowl.

"They are one of the top teams in the Big Ten, so getting an offer from them would be amazing.

Howe has also heard about the success players from Southwest Ohio have enjoyed in East Lansing.

"I've heard some names but don't know the number," he said. "But I know guys like Vayante Copeland are going up there, so they must really like how the Ohio boys play football."
