Thomas talks MSU Visit

Ohio athlete Maurice Thomas talks about his recent visit to Michigan State.

This summer could see Oxford (Ohio) Talawanda athlete Maurice Thomas become one of Ohio's top prospects.

Recently, Thomas visited Michigan State and talked with Spartan Digest about his experience.

"I went up to Michigan State with my brother and father," said Thomas. "We talked with Coach (Harlon) Barnett and he invited us to one of their camps as he wants us to come up because he was impressed with the numbers I posted in the combines. He was also impressed with my track numbers and knew a lot about track. "

While the recruiting process is just starting to heat up for Thomas, he liked what the Spartans had to show him and his family.

"The facilities at Michigan State are really nice," he continued. Besides the weight room, the indoor practice field is really nice and their outside fields were great. I got a chance to meet strength coach Ken Mannie and he talked about their lifting style about being there for 20 years. Coach Mannie also coached our uncle when he was at Toledo.

Before leaving Thomas also got some time with head coach Mark Dantonio.

"I got a chance to talk with Coach Dantonio before we left," he said. "He shook my hand and talked about how our visit went, the tour, and how we liked it. I told him I would return for their prospect camp and he was excited about that. He was real nice and happy to see us there."
