Kareem finds pleasant surprise at MSU

Farmington Hills Harrison defensive end happy after talking with coach Mark Dantonio following Michigan State's spring game.

When Farmington Hills Harrison's Khalid Kareem took a visit to Michigan State for the spring game last weekend, it came with a pleasant surprise following the game.

He had a chance to meet coach Mark Dantonio, but it was what he said that meant the most.

"I just told him my name and he told me keep working and they are looking at me," he said. "It felt good to know the head coach actually knew who I am and the work that I am putting it, he knows about it."

The 2016 defensive end said the game was good to see, especially how the team is flowing and working together.

In particular, the play of the defensive ends stood out.

"They had a great game," he said. "I got a chance to watch them in practice and see what they were doing wrong and right and how the coaches corrected them and now the game."

He also had the chance to check out some of the new facilities that will be completed before next season.

"I got to walk through the tunnel to see all the new construction," Kareem said. "I saw the recruiting room and how it's made out of all glass. It is a nice building. I think it is going to be amazing when it's built."

He will be back in East Lansing to camp, as well as at Michigan, Ohio State and Sound Mind Sound Body.

"I am just looking forward to showing coaches what I can do and what I can bring to the team," he said.
