Upshur lands the MSU offer he wanted

Philadelphia Imhotep tight end earns an offer from the Spartans days after expressing wanting it on Twitter. He talks why he wanted the offer and how he sees the Spartans now.

Philadelphia Imhotep Institute's Naseir Upshur has seen his offer list continue to grow with Wake Forest, Illinois and South Carolina jumping in the mix lately.

Michigan State became the latest to offer on Wednesday when offensive coordinator Dave Warner stopped by to see the sophomore tight end.

"They came out to my school and I was at lunch, coach called me up and told me he watched my film and liked my film a lot," he said. "He just said they were going to offer me a scholarship."

The offer came just days after Upshur tweeted that one of the offers he most wanted was Michigan State, so he was excited.

"It's a good program," he said. "I saw them win the Rose Bowl when they beat Stanford. It came off as a good school and their defense is so aggressive and I like aggressive football."

He also likes how the Spartans use their tight ends, which Warner explained to him when he offered the scholarship.

"He was basically telling me how they use their tight ends and how they have one on and one off," he said. "He was talking to me about the academics and everything."

Upshur said Michigan State definitely is a school he can seen himself playing at during college.

He also hopes to visit soon.

"Probably in the summertime," he said. "I talked to them and they are going to be at the Sound Mind Sound Body camp and so I will see all the coaches there because I am going, too."
