Long Ready To Impress Spartans

With Michigan State ready to get camp season under way on Sunday, one Ohio prospect is hopeful of turning a few heads and earning his first Big Ten offer.

Don't be fooled when looking at Tiffin (Ohio) Calvert High School athlete Tyler Long.

The small school quarterback knows his college future is on defense and has been hearing great things from Michigan State about their interest.

"I'm going to Michigan State on Sunday for their camp," said Long. "I've been talking with Coach (Jim) Bollman and he said they really like me. They want to see how I do and how coachable I am, so I hope that it will be a big day for me on Sunday."

Long knows an offer from the Spartans would be a hard one to turn away from.

"Michigan State is a place I would truly love to go to," he said. "My cousin attended Michigan State and loved the campus and the coaching staff. He didn't play sports there, but he just loved everything about Michigan State. So hopefully, I have a good day as that is an offer I would pursue."

Spartan Digest caught Long in action at a combine in March and came away very impressed by his overall athletic ability as he posted a hand-held forty time of 4.43 to go along with a 35.0 vertical jump, 7.22 L-cone and 4.47 pro-shuttle. Long holds one offer from Kent State at this time.
