The Saline (Mich.) senior cornerback sees a little bit of himself in Dennard, after all. He sees an underrecruited player, who could come into his own in college – and wants that opportunity.
"Not being a big time recruit and he came up to Michigan State and was one of the top draft picks," Miller said. "That's kind of like me with not many colleges looking at me. I've stepped up my game and want to step up my game more like he did from high school to college."
The 6-foot, 185-pound corner camped in East Lansing on Saturday – with Dennard in attendance – and netted a pair of offers.
"I got two offers from Central Michigan and Buffalo, but I think I could have done better," Miller said. "I think I could have done better but I just got shoulder surgery a month and a half ago. It's only the second camp I have been to and done anything since then."
Along with the two offers, he also made an impression on the Spartans coaches.
"They said they are going to keep in touch more," he said. "They are going to look at film. This is my first time meeting Coach (Harlon) Barnett, but he just wanted to see me in person and had been wanting to see me at Michigan State for a while."
If an offer comes, Miller said it would mean a lot.
"I'm very interested in Michigan State," he said. "Plus, it's really close to home."
Miller will be camping at Michigan this week, with a few others coming up as well with a focus on an area of improvement.
I'm going to Michigan, Indiana, Central and Eastern Michigan," he said. "I'm looking to improve more on my off coverage and being more patient going into Michigan. I wasn't as patient as I was supposed to be, so I want to be more patient."
