Could Michigan State be next for Mack?

Fort Wayne (Ind.) Bishop Luers wide receiver has been picking up offers and visits Michigan State in the near future. Could he leave with an offer from the Spartans?

It has been a pretty good summer for Austin Mack – to say the least.

The Fort Wayne (Ind.) Bishop Luers junior wide receiver has picked up offers from Ohio State, Michigan and Notre Dame, as he has been sweeping through the Midwest football powers.

Next, he hopes Michigan State will join the mix when he visits Saturday.

“I’m hoping to get an offer,” he said. “That’s the main thing I’m looking for when I get there, but I also really want to get a better relationship with Coach (Terrence) Samuel.”

The 6-foot-2, 205-pound wideout has been looking for a Michigan State offer since last year, when he came up to camp in East Lansing.

“Michigan State has been one of my tops since last year that I was looking at,” he said. “I really love Coach Samuel and Michigan State, but they are super slow with things and I haven’t been able to talk to them as much over the past year.

”I am just looking to see a good connection, a good atmosphere and to really get a good feel for the whole coaching staff and see what their goal is with their receivers and how they really do everything.”

Mack said he has heard some good things from one of his coaches at Athletes With Purpose (AWP) in Fort Wayne, Coach Matt Pike, who was the quarterback at Purdue when Samuel was a wide receiver for the Boilers.

”He has told me that Coach Samuel is super geeked on me,” Mack said. “He has been bugging me forever because I hadn’t made it up to camp or anything, so I decided to take a visit and we talked about it and he wanted me to come up on the July 12 for a visit.”

As for other schools he hopes to add to his offer list, Tennessee starts that group as Mack looks to expand beyond the Midwest.

“I am trying to get some SEC schools,” he said. “Tennessee has been talking to me and wants to get me on campus to get to their camp on July 18. I am hoping to maybe be able to go down there and get my first SEC offer.

”I would like to have an SEC offer going into my junior year, that would be great for everything. I hope to start expanding outside of the Midwest.”
