Mumphery up for community service award

MSU senior wide receiver a nominee for the Allstate Good Works Team

While on-the-field contributions are the focus in college football, there is something to be said for a student-athletes performance off the field as well.

Michigan State wide receiver Keith Mumphery was recognized as a nominee for the Allstate American Football Coaches Association Good Works Team on Tuesday for his off-the-field work.

The award recognizes college football student-athletes for their charitable involvement and community service, as well as maintaining good academic standing. This year’s list has a record 182 nominees, the highest since its inception in 1992, which includes players from all levels of college football from FBS to NAIA.

The final team members will be announced in September, at which point fans will be able to vote on which player will be name the Good Works Team captain.

Mumphery is entering his senior season at Michigan State and is coming off a junior campaign with three touchdowns on 18 receptions for 299 yards.
