Coming off a surprising sophomore campaign, Connor Cook is finding himself generating some quality preseason hype.
On Wednesday, the Michigan State quarterback was named to the Davey O’Brien Quarterback Award watch list.
Cook is one of 39 quarterbacks nationwide and one of five from the Big Ten, joining Ohio State’s Braxton Miller, Penn State’s Christian Hackenberg, Michigan’s Devin Gardner and Wisconsin’s Joel Stave.
Cook went 12-1 as a starter last season and went 8-0 in Big Ten play as the Spartans won their first Rose Bowl since 1988.
Cook threw for 2,755 yards last season with 22 touchdowns to just six interceptions. He threw for more than 300 yards in both the Big Ten Championship Game and the Rose Bowl.
The Davey O’Brien Award winner will be announced on December 11.
