Greater Houston Notebook (7/31/14) has had lots of activity in the Midlands region. Today, we look at a few recruiting notes from athletes in the Greater Houston area from last week and the early portions of this current week.

Horns Hook Lampkin
On Monday Cy Falls defensive tackle Du'Vonta Lampkin put an end to his recruitment choosing Texas over Oklahoma and LSU with family and friends taking in the ceremony at a childhood friend of his home. 

“I’m going to keep my talents in Texas. This (decision) is a huge weight off of my shoulders. (Assistant) coach (Chris) Rumph and coach Charlie Strong treated me was treated me like I was one of their players right now.”

Lampkin was previously committed to the Longhorns’ Red River rival in Oklahoma earlier this off season.

Five, Now Two for Humphrey 
He was previously committed to Baylor, then Clear Falls wide receiver John Humphrey decided to open things up. A few weeks, Humphrey told everyone one of his followers that Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Texas, Ole Miss and Baylor are the favorites for the moment. Now the first two are the final two.

Plan for Humphrey is to take two back-to-back official visits: Notre Dame vs. Michigan, September 6 weekend) and Oklahoma against Tennessee, which is the September 13 weekend. 

Top 25 Tour for Sheffield

Offers Coming In…
According to Manvel coach Kirk Martin, linebackers Collin Scott and Shane Jackson received offers from New Mexico State

Cy Fair defensive tackle Ross Donelly, a Rice commit tweeted… “Words can't explain how blessed I am! I just received an offer from Stanford University! #Cardinals”

Here is the tweet from Westfield coach Corby Meekins: “Congrats to Ed Oliver 2016 DT on his offer from LSU!”

Oliver recently camped at LSU and finally got an offer from a school that he was waiting to hear from as far as an offer was concerned. 

He committed to Bowling Green the middle of last week, since then Clear Falls DE Rahn Bailey added offers from Texas State and New Mexico State. He currently dealing with an injury that had him sidelined, but his spirits are high despite the adversity.
