Jack Allen

The Details

Height: 6-foot-2

Weight: 299 pounds

Position: Center

2013 season

After starting all 12 games split between center and guard as a redshirt freshman in 2012, Allen took over the center spot last season when Travis Jackson went down with an injury early in the season and started the next 12 games. He was named second-team All-Big Ten by the coaches and honorable mention All-Big Ten by the coaches.

Allen is everything you want in a center/interior offensive lineman. Michigan State is happy to have him as he is just a nasty guy who is going to outmuscle and just be tough than you, despite not being the largest in stature. He had a terrific season last year that probably should have brought in even more accolades. Between Allen and Jackson, the formerly named “dual-center threat,” the Spartans had great versatility on the interior of the offensive line last season. They do still have that, but it figures that Allen will be firmly in the center spot with Jackson at left guard (although Allen’s younger brother, Brian, might get some center snaps and move Jack away now and then). Still, things up front begin with Allen for the Spartans and that is a pretty good place to be.
