When Jamal Holloway thought about landing his first offer, he thought it would come from a small Division 1 school
So when Michigan State came calling in April, it was highly unexpected.
”I didn’t really expect them to offer me at first,” he said. “It was kind of unexpected for the No. 1 defense to look at me.”
The Spartans offered the Camden (N.J.) junior defensive end on April 2, which Holloway said was amazing.
“I actually did watch them a lot when I was younger, like Michigan State’s football team,” he said. “I am so interested in the defense. It is very fast-paced and people are always at the ball. …
”I honestly think their style of play fits what I can do.”
The 6-foot-3, 220-pound made his way to East Lansing this summer for a one-day camp, which he said was great.
“The city was great,” he said. “Everything was nice and I saw the locker room, I saw the stadium, I saw the weight room. It was a really nice place.”
”I’m looking forward to trying to make a game for Michigan State, though, and I will probably make a couple Temple games since that is close in my area,” he said.
“The highlight was meeting the players at both of them,” he said. “Ohio State players were great guys. They actually take pride in being Ohio State players.
”At Penn State, it was kind of the same thing. It was like a family like alumni always come in and I saw a couple of them and they appreciated what Penn State did for them in the past.”
Holloway’s current offer list consists of Michigan State, Virginia, Temple, Rutgers, Syracuse, Pitt and Old Dominion.
