MSU offer an "exciting moment" for Corley

Detroit King's junior wide receiver picks up three offers this week, including one from in-state school Michigan State. He talks about what that offer means, having two teammates committed to the Spartans and more.

It has been a good week for Donnie Corley Jr. to say the least.

The Detroit King junior wide receiver picked up offers from Michigan State, Arizona State and Pitt in the past few days, something he said has been amazing.

“It’s amazing and crazy,” Corley said. “I couldn’t have done all this without my parents and my coaches.”

Arizona State was the first of the week for the 6-foot-1, 170-pound junior, but the in-state Spartans soon followed.

“Before practice Coach (Mark) Dantonio called Coach Spence and he gave me the phone and Coach Dantonio told me about it,” he said. “He just said that he watched my film and he liked it and stuff.

”It was an exciting moment for me.”

Corley started getting the idea that Michigan State could be close when Dantonio and wide receivers coach Terry Samuel paid a visit to King for a practice the week before. He said the offer meant a lot coming from an in-state school and having two teammates committed for the 2015 class in Kyonta Stallworth and Tyriq Thompson.

“It means a lot because it a school I always wanted to go to at the beginning of the year,” he said. “It could change, but you never know.

”With those two going there, it could be a big deal.”

Now, he has a pair of visits lined up to Michigan State.

“I’m going to the Nebraska game and the Ohio State game,” he said.

Pitt joined Corley’s offer list Thursday night. His list now consists of MSU, ASU, Pitt, Iowa, Illinois, Cincinnati, Toledo, Central Michigan and Eastern Michigan.

As for other schools that might come along with an offer soon, Corley said he is not pressing everything and is just letting everything come to him.

“I’m just letting it happen and see what happens,” he said. “I’m talking to a lot of schools but I’ll just see what happens.”
