Spartans cruise through second exhibition

Michigan State breaks the century mark in a 101-46 win against St. Cloud State on Friday.

Michigan State lit up the scoreboard in its first exhibition game Monday night in a 97-56 win against Master’s College. It did so a little bit more against St. Cloud State on Friday night, with a 101-46 win.

Freshman Lourawls Nairn broke the 100-point mark with a short jumper off the glass with a few seconds left.

The win featured a triple double from junior Denzel Valentine, who tallied his 10th assist with more than five minutes to go in the game. He finished with 15 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists.

Michigan State used a 17-0 run early in the first half to break the game open from a 21-13 lead to a 38-13 lead.

Travis Trice was the game’s leading scorer with 20 points.

Matt Costello had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Gavin Schilling had 15 – both which would be career highs in points.

The Spartans held St. Cloud State without a field goal for more than five minutes to open the second half.

Michigan State will open the regular season at Navy on Friday as part of the Navy Basketball Veterans Classic.
