White Impressed By Spartans

Only a sophomore, Cincinnati (Ohio) La Salle running back Jarell White has enjoyed a breakout season, his first scholarship offer and his first visit to Michigan State. Spartan Digest caught up with White about his visit on Sunday afternoon.

On a team with two running backs over 1,000 yards, sophomore Jarell White often gets overlooked by those who come to see teammate Jeremy Larkin. However, White and Larkin have found a way to help each other this season.

“It’s nice to have a player like Jeremy,” said White. “We push each other every day and just keep working every day to get better and help the team.”

For White and Larkin the La Salle Lancers won a share of the Greater Catholic League title and their first playoff game this past Friday.

What area of his game does White feels he’s improved the most?

“I feel I have improved my blocking and my speed,” he said.

While many feel La Salle has a chance of making their way to Columbus, White stresses the team is not looking that far ahead.

“We’re just taking it week by week,” he explained. “We play every game like it is our last of the season.”

With their playoff games on Friday nights, White was one of many recruits at Michigan State on Saturday night for the Spartans big battle with Ohio State.

How did the visit with the Spartans go?

“It was pretty nice,” he said. “I liked their facilities a lot. I really didn’t get to talk with any of the coaches, but I’ve spoken with them in the past and they told me to come up.

“It was my first visit there, but I really liked how big the campus is and liked the atmosphere of the game and how the stadium is laid out.”
