Robertson makes a stop in East Lansing

Fort Wayne (Ind.) Wayne defensive end visits MSU, which offered this fall -- an offer he said he was waiting for.

Fort Wayne (Ind.) Wayne defensive end Auston Robertson saw his recruitment blow up this summer.

Michigan State took notice and offered him earlier this fall, joining the likes of Ohio State, Notre Dame and many more.

“It was great,” the junior said. “That was an offer I was waiting for.”

He made a visit to East Lansing on Saturday and was back again to see the Spartans play Ohio State on Saturday.

“It was great game,” he said. “There was a presentation they did and we got to meet all the coaches and the people that we would be studying with and they got to tell us about themselves and stuff.”

Robertson currently has Michigan State and Ohio State in his top five, as well as Notre Dame, Iowa and Miami.

Robertson said he enjoyed the environment and was impressed by the MSU fan base, but especially liked seeing the defensive end play and pass rush.

It was a chance to see exactly what defensive line coach Ron Burton described to him – and something he could relate to.

“That is the same thing I do at my high school, so that was pretty cool,” he said.

With his high school season over, Robertson said he now is focusing on adding 20 pounds onto his 6-foot-5 frame. He also is looking to take another visit in the near future.

“I think I am going to go to the Michigan and Ohio State game,” he said.

He is planning to make a decision next summer.
