Zimmer sees MSU come through among others

Orlando Bishop Moore 2016 defensive end plans to come back to camp in East Lansing this summer after stopping on a Midwest swing last summer.

Michigan State got a chance to see Orlando Bishop Moore defensive end Zander Zimmer this summer at camp. Earlier in December, Michigan State stopped by the school to check in on the junior Zimmer.

“It was really good seeing Brad Salem,” Zimmer said. “He is an awesome guy and definitely one of my favorite coaches that I’ve met. He is full of energy and everything. …

”He was just telling me to keep working hard to earn that offer. I’m going to train my butt off and hopefully get there soon.”

Zimmer said he is a big fan of Salem’s attitude and how he always is happy.

”I know that he wants me there and he believes in me,” Zimmer said.

While he did not have a chance to visit Michigan State for a game this season – the lone game visit he took was to Northwestern when the Wildcats played Michigan – he said he was paying close attention.

”I was watching every game,” he said. “(Their season) was really good. They definitely had a very, very good season. …

”I definitely will be back up there this summer for camp and a visit. It definitely is one of my top schools.”

Coming off a strong junior season, Zimmer has seen more and more schools showing interest. In early December, he was visited by Illinois, Penn State and Vanderbilt among others.

”There have been quite a few colleges that have been coming through lately,” he said.

But Zimmer remains waiting for his first offer, which he hopes will come soon.

”I’ve talked to a lot of schools but I’m still waiting for the first one to come,” he said.
