MSU gearing up for another big weekend

Spartans set to have a handful of official visitors in East Lansing as signing day approaches

Last weekend, Michigan State hosted seven commits on official visits with one uncommitted prospect.

This weekend will look a lot different for the Spartans as they host one committed prospect with a handful of uncommitted players.

The committed prospect will be Clarkston's Cole Chewins, who announced his decision to accept a gray shirt at Michigan State on Thursday night. He previously was committed to Miami (Ohio).

It figures that Chewins won't be the final piece of the 2015 class, however, and the Spartans will be hoping to land some of the players they will host this weekend.

The list starts off with 2015 linebacker Quarte Sapp (Milton, Ga.). Sapp has named a final four of Michigan State, Tennessee, Miami and Missouri earlier this week. He took an official to Tennessee last weekend and now MSU will have its chance to show what it can offer this weekend.

Next up is an interesting prospect in Mufi Hunt, a big defensive end from Taylorsville (Utah). While he is a senior in high school, a two-year Mormon mission awaits Hunt after graduation, so he can be viewed as a 2017 prospect.

The final official visitor on campus is an old name that was recruited by MSU in the past. Drake Martinez, who wound up heading to Nebraska - where his brother Taylor was playing quarterback - is headed to MSU for an official this weekend. He left Nebraska and played last season at Saddleback Community College in California.
