Michigan State picks up Dowell twins

Lakewood (Ohio) St. Edward's prospects commit to the Spartans on Wednesday night -- ending up in East Lansing, the place where they picked up their first offers two summers ago.

Everything came full circle for Andrew Dowell and David Dowell on Wednesday night.

Two summers ago, the Lakewood (Ohio) St. Edward’s camped at Michigan State and picked up their first scholarship offers from Toledo. The offers from Michigan State finally came Tuesday and they made their verbal commitments a day later.

Andrew, a four-star running back, confirmed the commitments, while David, a four-star defensive back/wide receiver, confirmed them with Ohio recruiting analyst Bill Greene.

”Very excited to join the storied program and work with Coach Dantonio and the rest of the staff,” David said in a text to Greene.

Michigan State offered David as a cornerback/wide receiver, while Andrew was offered as a linebacker/safety prospect.

Last summer, both committed to Northwestern before flipping to Kentucky.

With junior college linebacker Drake Martinez committing to the Spartans on Tuesday night, MSU is putting strong finishing touches on the 2015 recruiting class which now has 18 commits with grayshirt Cole Chewins also in the fold.
