Answering your questions about Michigan State football, basketball and recruiting!

Make your call for the big game on Sunday ... and I do NOT mean the Super Bowl. Shouldn't Michigan's injury situation mean that they haven't got the firepower to stay with an MSU team that plays even close to its normal standard?

I do believe you are correct that Michigan State is the better team … on paper. It is just a tough team to get a read on and throw in that Michigan is playing a very good 2-3 zone right now with the players it has left and it is a harder matchup than it probably should be. I do think Michigan State wins and it has a lot of confidence and momentum coming off the Rutgers win.

When is NFL combine and which Spartans have been invited to perform in front of teams?

The combine will take place from Feb. 17-23. At this time, Taiwan Jones and Keith Mumphery have made their invites public. It is safe to assume guys like Tony Lippett, Kurtis Drummond, Trae Waynes and Jeremy Langford are locks to be invited as well. Marcus Rush probably should be there as well.

Do you think that there will be any further additions to the football recruiting class? If so, who?

Will their be any more commitments to this years class or is the class full? Any chance any current commit flips to another school?

I think the only name remaining on the board is Cassius Peat – and I think MSU has a good shot with him. Other than that, the class already is pretty big compared to what was expected, so I don’t imagine MSU looks for anyone else and would be very content with this class (by content, I mean elated, excited and ecstatic).

Is there any word on where LJ Scott's brother is going? And is MSU still trying to squeeze him in somehow with a preferred walk on offer?

He was offered by Kentucky recently, so it appears that will be the destination. I do not believe MSU is going to bring him in as a preferred walk-on given that. Bill Greene had mentioned Youngstown State a possible landing spot as well.

Do you see both of MSU's backup QB's completing 4 years as Spartans? With the emergence of Connor Cook, it would seem to make sense that one of them would leave.

You are not wrong that it would not make sense, but I really do not like speculating on transfers. I do think Tyler O’Connor’s best window to leave was last offseason and that probably would have been the most logical move. We will see what happens after spring ball.

Does Ken Mannie work with the basketball team at all? Javon Bess hurt his ankle again, Trice hurt his ribs and last night his arm popped out again. Seems like the basketball injury rate is higher than the football team's.

They don’t work with Mannie during the season, as Mike Vorkapich is the main strength and conditioning coach at that time. It is possible they do during the summer.

Travis Trice's injury. Will we know more before Sunday's game? That seemed to be a cheap shot sort of pick that hurt him.

We could know more after media availability this afternoon. I think that pick just aggravated something, as earlier in the game Trice grabbed that shoulder while playing defense as well.

Are there any other recruits Tom Izzo is looking at if Caleb Swanigan is a miss for this class?

I think Swanigan is the final player that MSU wants to land and I’m not sure Izzo would look at any other late adds at this point.

Is Alvin Ellis in the Tom Izzo doghouse? Seems like he contributed more last year and now is lucky to see 2 minutes a game.

I am not sure if it as a “doghouse” thing, but more of a Javon Bess is basically the same player but looks to be a better version. Bess is a year younger, while being bigger and stronger and a better defender and rebounder.
