Signing Day Capsule: Raequan Williams

Chicago DePaul defensive tackle made a big name this fall and MSU showed big interest, ultimately landing Williams

Raequan Williams – Chicago DePaul Defensive Tackle

Height, weight: 6-foot-5, 275 pounds

Commitment Date: December 19, 2014

Why Michigan State: “My family wanted me to go there, and it was just a great place to be. And, they are winning right now and that is a big thing. You want to win.”

The Skinny

Williams came on the scene strong for Michigan State in the fall and Michigan State also came on strong. The big defensive tackle became a priority for the Spartans and ultimately picked them over Iowa and Arizona State.

He is a large person on the interior defensive line, but plays with a high level of pursuit and an even higher level of strength.

While MSU brought in a handful of interior defensive linemen last year, Williams has a lot of talent and could have a shot at seeing the field – especially since MSU could be starting two seniors at defensive tackle.
