Michigan State had a much quieter signing day than it did a year ago, but it was not without a big pickup.
Tempe (Ariz.) Corona del Sol defensive end Cassius Peat committed to the Spartans on Wednesday.
The 6-foot-4, 235-pound Peat gives the Spartans a second defensive end in the class, joining Nordonia (Ohio) DE Justice Alexander. He also gives Michigan State a second commitment from Arizona, joining Phoenix Pinnacle quarterback Brian Lewerke.
Peat took an official visit to Michigan State when the Spartans played Nebraska on Oct. 4. There were rumors he might come for a visit within the two weeks leading up to signing day and while that visit never came to be, it did not hinder his decision.
He had committed to UCLA after taking an official there after his visit to East Lansing.
Peat gives the Spartans 20 commitments for the class of 2015, including grayshirt Cole Chewins, who will go on scholarship in the spring semester of 2015.
