After one year of football, Alaric Jackson is seeing heavy interest on the recruiting trail – and it is only increasing.
Last week, he took a visit to Michigan State for the Spartans’ basketball game against Purdue.
“It was really good,” he said. “I got to sit down with Coach Dantonio and Coach Blackwell. We talked and ate and saw campus a little bit. It’s a really nice campus. I sat with the players in the student section and had a good time.”
The 6-foot-7, 280-pound Jackson enjoyed hanging out with the Michigan State players in attendance, which included someone he already knows from attending Renaissance.
Jackson is friends with Thomas’ younger brother. He said talking with Thomas has given him some insight to the Spartans and what it is like at Michigan State, but he added that he likes the family feel of the staff.
“I already know how it is around there and Lawrence Thomas is always telling me how it is around there and how it’s a brotherhood,” he said.
Could Michigan State join the fold?
”They liked seeing my film and they really liked me, so now it’s up to them if they are going to offer me or not,” Jackson said.
As for his recent offers, Jackson said he does not know a lot, but is learning about his options.
“Kentucky, I just know it’s Big Blue Nation,” he said. “That’s what everybody knows and it’s a big school in the SEC. It’s a tough conference.
”Purdue is another good Big Ten school form what I heard. I talked to them for the first time last week and that was the first time hearing from them. I talked to them today and they said they liked my film.”
