MSU Top 28 Difference Makers 2015 Nos. 20-17

Michigan State fans are expecting a lot in 2015 as the Spartans look ready to compete at a high level and win a Big Ten Conference title and play in the College Football Playoff for a chance at a national championship. We begin with a look at players Nos. 20-17. (Pictured: Shilique Calhoun)

We continue with my Top 28 Michigan State Spartans by order of importance for the 2015 season. We're now looking at Nos. 20-17.

NO. 20

R.J. Williamson – Free Safety – 5-th Year Senior

Williams makes a change of position that should allow him to use more of his strengths on the field as he’s a known physical player. Had 10 starts a season ago and should be ready to have the best year of his career. Could be listed higher, but we feel Williamson is ready to take his game up a notch.

NO. 19

Ed Davis – SAM Linebacker – 5-th Year Senior

Veteran player who started 12 games last season and ready to take his game to another level. Solid producer on the Spartans defense who should help keep the Green and White as one of the top in college football. The perfect size for the SAM position.

NO. 18

Jon Reschke and Chris Frey – MIKE LB / SAM LB – Sophomores

We spilt here looking at depth at two different linebacker spots. Both Reschke and Frey are physically ready to play on the big stage with both earning their first letters a season ago. Now it’s all about taking their roles and expanding them as needed to not only help in 2015 but beyond.

NO. 17

Shilique Calhoun – Defensive End – 5-th Year Senior

Calhoun is a proven member and leader of the Spartans defense who could have an even bigger season in 2015 as he looks to raise his NFL draft stock. It would be easy to place him higher on the list but he’s considered one of the Top 50 players in the country for a reason.
