Here are my Top 28 Michigan State Spartans by order of importance for the 2015 season. We continue with Nos. 4-1.
Aaron Burbridge – X Receiver – Senior
Since his arrival on campus we’ve seen touches of the player many thought Burbridge would be coming out of high school. However, 80 career catches and three touchdowns is not what fans expected out of the highly ranked Farmington Hills, Michigan native. We have Burbridge high on this list because we feel he must step forward and come close to matching his career numbers in his final year as a Spartan. If not, there is a chance the passing game suffers greatly in 2015.
With the uncertain future of Delton Williams, London and Holmes must step forward and play a major role in the traditional strong Spartans running attack. London looks to have taken a step forward in the spring, but Holmes will not go away without a fight. One or both of these backs must become consistent on the field for the Spartans offense to be a balanced attack.
Montae Nicholson – Strong Safety – Sophomore
Nicholson left the spring as the most talked about player on the Spartans roster. Many now have him pegged as a future top draft pick. Year one was solid for Nicholson with three starts and 31 total tackles. This fall he’ll be asked to do even more to help keep the Spartans defense as one of the top in the country.
Connor Cook – Quarterback – Fifth-year Senior
The Spartans will go as Cook goes in 2015. All the pressure is on his shoulders and so far he’s proven they are broad enough to carry the load. Cook must limit mistakes, be the face of the program and keep those around him in the right mindset for the Spartans to have a chance to win a Big Ten Championship and earn a berth in the playoffs for a national championship. There is no question all Spartan fans and the nation will be watching his every move.
