With ten scholarship offers already in hand Sean Clifford does not need to spend time hitting camp after camp looking for offers. However, Clifford is not resting on offers having attended a few camps including one at Michigan State.
“I really enjoyed Michigan State and they seem really hot on me as well,” said Clifford. “I feel an offer could be coming soon from them and I really like their facilities and coaching staff. Everything about them is superb.”
The camp experience was not the first visit for Clifford as teammate Noah Davis has already started working on him about becoming a Spartan if he's offered.
“It was the second time I've been up there,” he said. “My teammate Noah Davis has talked them up a lot so I really wanted to get up there early. My first visit was in the spring and then camp was my second.”
Clifford quickly learned the Spartans use their camp for more than just evaluating possible prospects.
“Coach (Brad) Salem is a really great coach and I really enjoyed working with him,” he said. “He didn't just watch me and evaluate me, he got in and tried to help me develop as a quarterback with the limited time we had.
“The drills were fun and when we got to the one-on-ones and 7-on7 it was also fun. Especially when we got in the stadium and I got to throw. It was a great experience to be able to work in that big of a stadium as one day that is what I want to do. Except I want to do it with the stands filled. But it was a fun experience.”
Along with watching a current teammate pick the Spartans to continue his athletic and academic career, Clifford has seen other Greater Catholic League players pick the Green and White since Mark Dantonio took over the program.
“When I think of Michigan State out of all the schools, I think it's one of the most highly GCL populated schools as there are so many guys from the GCL up there. I don't see it stopping as Noah Davis also committed there. So the pipeline is still going and I think that is pretty interesting.”
