Really Get To Know Mike Panasiuk

Just back from The Opening, Spartan Digest caught up with Michigan State defensive line pledge Mike Panasiuk to learn more about him away from the field.

Spartan Digest caught up with Roselle (Ill.) Lake Park defensive lineman Mike Panasiuk to learn more about the future Michigan State Spartan.

We asked Panasiuk a series of questions to learn more about him on and off the field.

Q – When not playing football, what do you like to do?

MP – I like to hang out with my friends and go fishing. I'm an outdoor guy so I like to be outdoors doing other sports. In the off season I throw shot put and discus in track. So I do that and lift weights.

Q - What is your favorite food?

MP – I love all kinds of food. Put a plate in front of me and I'll eat it.

Q – What is the one food you must have?

MP - Pierogies.

Q - What show are you watching on television or streaming currently?

MP – I don't really watch television a lot.

Q – What kinds of music do you listen to?

MP – I listen to country all the time. Doesn't matter who it is or what kind.

Q – What is the last concert you attended?

MP – I've not been to any lately but will be going up to Country Thunder in Wisconsin in about a week.

Q – What is something people wouldn't know about you?

MP – Probably that I like to spend a lot of time by myself. Usually people like to be around others. But I just like to be by myself and isolate myself from everyone else and be by myself. Not many people know that about me.

Q – What do you want to do with your degree from Michigan State?

MP – I'm planning on doing something with business.

Q - Five years after Michigan State what will you be doing?

MP – Hopefully with the talent I've been given and the body size I have I can continue my career at the next level. That is definitely something I would want to do. But not everyone gets to do that and if that doesn't work out for me, I just want to settle down somewhere, find a job, have a family and have enough money with the job I have to provide for my wife and kids and have a normal life.

Q – When did you feel you were a Division One football player?

MP – I noticed I was a lot bigger and a lot stronger than everybody my freshman year. But I didn't think I had the size or talent until probably going into my junior year. That was when I decided why not get college for free. So that was probably the time I definitely thought about becoming a Division One athlete.

Q – What is your favorite sports team?

MP – The New England Patriots. When I was younger I was a fan of Rob Gronkowski. So when he got drafted by the Patriots, I started liking them more. Growing up I was a Bears fan, but once Rob got on a team I went with them.

Q - What other sports do you cheer for?

MP – I follow a couple of sports like basketball and hockey. I'm a real big hockey guy and like the Chicago Blackhawks.

Q – Cubs or White Sox?

MP – I don't like baseball.
