Here are four keys for the Michigan State Spartans to get back to their winning ways.
KEY ONE: Get back on the horse and play your game.
The loss to Nebraska is one that could derail the mindset of many teams. The Spartans must overcome the loss early in this game by getting out to an early lead and not giving Maryland any confidence they can win this game. The Spartans have been here before just a year ago when the had to come off their loss to Ohio State before taking on Maryland. They must answer like they did a year ago.
KEY TWO: Know where Will Likely is on the field.
Likely is now starting on both sides of the field and playing a key role for the Terrapins on special teams. He’s a player the Spartans must keep an eye on no matter where he lines up.
KEY THREE: Force Maryland to throw the football.
While Michigan State has struggled in their secondary, Maryland has struggled throwing the ball. Last week the the Spartans struggled to get pressure on the quarterback, this week they must stop the run and force the Terrapins to throw and put pressure on the quarterback.
KEY FOUR: Be balanced on offense.
The Spartans have rode the arm of Connor Cook most of the season, but they must get back to being balanced using their offensive line to open holes for the running game then letting Cook to show off his ability to throw the football.
